Police have confirmed that two fans have lost their lives and several others were injured, some critically, after a stampede outside the Carling Black Label Cup venue.

The pre-season friendly between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates opens the new domestic season, but the incident today has thrown the PSL into further turmoil around the crowd problems.

It this stage, it remains unclear what triggered the incident at Gate J.
