South Africa kept their chances of reaching the COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship semi-finals alive after defeating Seychelles 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at the South Beach Arena in Durban.

Stephen Lajolie scored the first goal for Seychelles in the first half of an exciting game. However, Ntutuko “Phoyisa” Mbutho scored a blistering long-range goal for the hosts in the second half to tie the game.

However, Seychelles got ahead again before the end of the second half.

South Africa worked hard to tie the game in the last frame, and Siyabonga Mkhize scored the equaliser. The crowd at South Beach Arena went crazy because they could feel something special.

Abongile Gcuda lived up to the fans’ hopes when he scored the game-winning goal for South Africa, securing three points.
The Man of the Match award went to Siyabonga Mkhize for his important part in Monday’s important win.

In their last group game, which is on Wednesday at 14:30, the hosts play Saudi Arabia.
