Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi admits it was “a very intense game” but was happy to see his team walk away with the Cufa Cup trophy.
The Glamour Boys were crowned champions of the inaugural CUFA Cup after they beat Marumo Gallants 4-3 in a penalty shootout at the Free State Stadium on Sunday.
The Soweto giants will next take on SuperSport United when the two sides meet in the first round of the Carling Knockout at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Nabi was pleased with his sides performance but wants his side to continue their momentum heading into the next match.
“It was a very intense game, it was an excellent thing [winning a trophy], but we created a lot of chances,” Nabi said on SABC1.
“Just like against Sundowns, we also created a lot of opportunities. This is a big, big problem [that we’re missing chances].
“I want a winning mentality. There are no friendly games. In friendly games, you need a positive attitude, a winning attitude. In exercises in training I want to win.
“If I lose, it’s problem. I don’t sleep. I want this mentality.
“We lose momentum in the game, we gave the other team the chance to gain control, this is unacceptable.
“Secondly, we play cup against SuperSport, this is a very bad repetition. Maybe the SuperSport coach was watching and if we reach penalties again I need to change takers.”
Kaizer Chiefs against SuperSport United kicks off at 8pm on Saturday.
