Goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva saw Manchester City claim an impressive 3-0 victory against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday evening.

It was one-way traffic from the start as Pep Guardiola’s side dominated proceedings in every department, aided by a woeful all-round display from Arsenal.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could have given his side the lead early on when he got on to the end of Mesut Ozil’s pass, but the striker lacked aggression, which allowed Kyle Walker to make a timely touch.

Sergio Aguero opened the scoring in the 18th minute after some shockingly soft defending from Shkodan Mustafi which allowed the Argentinian the simplest of finishes.

Arsenal created a few chances, but proved poor in the final third with Aubameyang guilty of not coming to the party.

City maintained their one-goal lead heading into the half-time break and were forced into a change in the second half as Bernardo Silva replaced the injured Fernandinho.

City came out with more of an attacking intent in the second stanza and it came as no surprise when Vincent Kompany doubled his side’s lead after Kevin De Bruyne’s corner found Ilkay Gundogan on the edge of the box, whose shot was in turn palmed into the path of the Belgian defender, who made no mistake.

Things went from bad to worse for Arsene Wenger’s men, who conceded a third, courtesy of a strike by David Silva.

The Gunners could mount little resistance in the way of City’s dominance as Guardiola secured his side’s first trophy of the season in their bid to win the treble.
