Stellenbosch FC successfully defended their Engen Knockout Challenge title after claiming a 4-2 victory on penalties over Cape Town City on Sunday evening.
The Maroons lifted their second straight Engen Knockout Challenge title after claiming the win in a penalty shootout after the game ended goalless at Erica Park in Belhar.
Stellies made their way to the final after claiming a win over Rebels FC in the quarter-finals after eliminating Ubuntu FC in the semi-final to reach the final.
In the final, they faced cross-town rivals Cape Town City but the two sides could not be separated in regulation time, however, the Cape-Winelands side came out victorious in the penalty shootout to clinch the title.
Stellies head coach Jean-Pierre Farrugia was named Coach of the Tournament, while Zaydee Marang and Nathan Langeveldt were named Striker of the Tournament and Goalkeeper of the Tournament, respectively.
