Mikel Arteta has urged leaders Arsenal to continue their winning momentum in the Premier League when the top flight resumes after the World Cup break.
The Gunners were in great shape, having won 12 of their last 14 games. The league was put on hold for the first time ever so that the World Cup could be held in Qatar during the winter in the northern hemisphere.
Fans and experts have been debating all season about whether or not the break will help or hurt clubs’ chances of winning. Gabriel Jesus, who played for Arsenal, had to leave the World Cup early because of a knee injury he got when Brazil was shocked by Cameroon.
Arteta, on the other hand, was in a good mood before his team’s Premier League match against West Ham at the Emirates on Monday.
“You know, I want the team to play a certain way, and the more consistent we are on that the more we are going to win,” he told Sky Sports.
“There is excitement, and we should be excited and we should be embracing the opportunity that we have ahead of us.”
