Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero says his side are up for the title fight following their 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Monday.

City secured their fourth successive victory and now move into second place in the Premier League while also reducing the deficit behind log leaders Chelsea to eight points with 13 matches still remaining.

The 35-year-old shot-stopper says he has been delighted with getting the much-needed game-time under his belt, while also insisting that he has been impressed by the team’s recent performance.

‘We have to win our games. After we see what happens with the rest of the teams but we can only do our job,’ Caballero told the Manchester City website.

‘We fight together. We are really happy today. I have been waiting for this chance for a long time so I always try to do my best for the team.’

City’s man-of-the-match at the Vitality Stadium was winger Raheem Sterling who produced a superb all-round display.

Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling was quick to praise Sergio Aguero’s contribution after coming on as a substitute just 13 minutes into the match after Gabriel Jesus suffered an ankle injury.

‘We know Sergio’s ability and it is great to have a player like that in the squad. He is world class,’ Sterling said.

‘Before the game, we knew it would be difficult. Bournemouth play amazing football at times and you saw that today.

‘Credit to them they pushed and pushed and luckily we got the two goals. I am always trying to get on the scoresheet, it doesn’t always happen.’

Manchester City will now turn their attention to the FA Cup when they take on Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off has been set for 17:00.
