Chelsea have completed the signing of Lyon right-back Malo Gusto for £26.3 million, with the 19-year-old spending the rest of the season back in France on loan.

The 19-year-old put pen to paper on a contract that will see him remain at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2030.

However, the exciting youngster headed back to France, where he will remain at Lyon for the reminder of the current season.

Gusto has played for France at the Under-21 level. He came up through the youth ranks at Lyon and made his debut as a full-grown player in January 2021.

The next season was a big one for the fullback who liked to attack. He became a regular for Lyon both in France and in Europe. He played 30 times in Ligue 1 and had four assists. He also helped his team get to the quarterfinals of the Europa League.

Laurent Blanc is in charge of OL this season, and Gusto is a key part of the team’s defense. OL is currently in eighth place in the French top flight.

The defender will now continue to improve at the Groupama Stadium on loan until the summer, when he will join the Blues for the new season.
