Chelsea cruised to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Arsenal in a London Derby match at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues got off to a bright start and broke the deadlock in the 13th minute when Marcos Alonso headed the ball into the back of the net from three-yards out to make it 1-0.
The Gunners suffered a major blow when Hector Bellerin had to substituted by Gabriel Paulista after suffering a blow to head following the opening goal.
Arsene Wenger’s side came close to levelling matters in the 37th minute when Gabriel saw his headed effort well saved by Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Chelsea held on to the 1-0 in the first 45 minutes as the match went into the half-time interval.
In the second half, the Blues doubled their lead in the 54th minute when Eden Hazard collected the ball on the halfway line and ran through the Arsenal team before putting the ball past two defenders and Petr Cech to make it 2-0.
Chelsea then added a third goal in the 86th minute when Cech’s poor clearance fell to Cesc Fabregas before he guided the ball into the net from 20-yards out to make it 3-0.
However, the Gunners did eventually find the back of the net during stoppage time when Olivier Giroud headed the ball home from a Nacho Monreal cross.
Chelsea held on to their 3-1 lead over Arsenal until the final whistle as the Blues now extend their lead at the summit of the Premier table to 12 points after collecting all three points at Stamford Bridge.
