Chelsea began the Mauricio Pochettino era with a thrilling 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in their Premier League opener on Sunday.
But it was Liverpool that scored first. After a mistake in the Chelsea defence in the 18th minute, Luis Diaz sneaked in at the back post to finish Mohamed Salah’s fine through ball.
After a corner kick in the 37th minute, Axel Disasi, one of four new defenders for the Blues, scored from close range to tie the game.
Salah and Ben Chilwell both scored goals in the first half, but the VAR took them away because they were too close to the line. The Liverpool forward also hit the bar.
Pochettino could have won all three points in his first game as Blues manager if Chelsea had been more effective.
