Liverpool have opened talks with Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho over a new long-term contract with the club, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Brazilians current contract at the club runs until 2020 but the Reds are keen to reward the attacker for his impressive performance this side, having already scored six goals so far this season.
Coutinho has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona but Liverpool are determined to retain his services.
The 24-year-old has been a crucial member of the Reds team since his £8.5-million move from Serie A side Inter Milan in January 2013, netting 34 goals in 163 appearances in all competitions.
