Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes says he will leave the club if he feels unwanted at Manchester United.

Recently, Fernandes, 29, has been associated with a move to Bayern Munich, as the Red Devils will not play in the Champions League the next season.

United might have to sell in order to meet Premier League financial sustainability regulations and raise the money required for a significant squad makeover in the summer.

“I will be here till when the club wants me and the club wants me to be a part of the future,” said Fernandes, whose contract runs till 2026.

“If for some reason they don’t want me, then I will go.”

With a 3-2 victory over Newcastle on Wednesday, United maintained their hopes of qualifying for Europe through the Premier League, with Fernandes contributing to the cause.

Although Erik ten Hag’s team is now ranked eighth in the standings, they have the opportunity to move up to seventh if they defeat Newcastle on the last day of the season.

On Sunday, United will go to Brighton, and Newcastle will go to Brentford.

“It has been a tough season. The table shows that and we are all aware of that,” added Fernandes.

“The fans have been amazing for us and we had to do something.

“We have been trying but results don’t show that. We have been working hard and everyone has been giving their best it is not enough and we have to do more.”

If United upsets Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25, they will have another chance to qualify for Europe—even if they don’t place in the top seven for the first time in the Premier League era.

In order to allay concerns about his future going into the upcoming season, manager Ten Hag, who is under criticism, really needs a second trophy in his two years in charge.

After United’s final home game of the season, the Dutchman took the microphone at full time to express his gratitude to the supporters in spite of a challenging campaign.

“As you know it wasn’t an easy season, but one thing remained constant and that was the backing of you for the team,” said Ten Hag.

“This season is not over yet. First we go to Brighton where we travel for three points and then we go to Wembley. I promise you those players will give everything to get that cup and bring it to Old Trafford.

“We are sure you will be there supporting us. Thank you, you are the best supporters in the world!”
