Bafana Bafana star Lyle Foster has signed a new long term contract with Premier League outfit Burnley.
The South African striker has committed his future to the club after putting pen to paper on a new five-year contract at Turf Moor.
The 23-year-old signed a new long-term deal that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2028.
Foster has done a great job getting used to the Premier League. In seven games, he has scored three goals and set up two others.
“I’m very happy to stay here. It’s a Club with very good people and I have really enjoyed working here and I’m pleased to extend my stay,” Foster told his club’s official website.
“The supporters, Turf Moor, everything here. The way we organise ourselves and our standards something I fell in love with.
“It’s a club that pushes towards excellence and that’s something I want to be a part of.”
Although Burnley has had some disappointing results so far this season, Foster is sure that the Clarets will be successful in the end and get even better as the season goes on.
“I’m trying to stay focussed and continue working hard. It’s a long season with lots of tough games but as time goes on I think we will grow stronger
“We will have a good season. I have plenty of belief and confidence within the squad, the coaches and everyone around the building.
“There is no need to stress. Just enjoy what we’re doing and there’s a recipe for success.”
Foster came to the Clarets from the Belgian team Westerlo in January of this year. He played his first game for the club in the Emirates FA Cup against Ipswich Town. The first goal in Claret & Blue came in a 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
Foster, who is 23 years old, scored his first goal of the 2023–24 season against Aston Villa. He then had either a goal or an assist in four straight games.
