Henderson inspires Liverpool to victory

Jordan Henderson inspired Liverpool to a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Friday evening.

The Reds showed tremendous energy in the first half and raced into a two-goal lead through Dejan Lovren and Henderson’s stunning effort.

Chelsea failed to lay a glove on the rampant Reds until Diego Costa netted his fifth goal of the season with 29 minutes remaining, but Liverpool saw the game out comfortably.

The 26-year-old played an important role for the Reds by getting two shots at goal with both coming from outside the box, with one shot on target which led to Liverpool’s second goal.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Jordan Henderson managed to complete 82 touches on the ball after spending 90 minutes on the field.

In attack, the England midfielder produced one chance at goal, which ultimately led to Liverpool’s victory away from home to secure all three points.

The Liverpool captain completed 57 out of 68 passes on the ball with 44.1% coming from the left, while 27.9% going forward and 19.1% coming from the right.

In defence, the former Sunderland midfielder won five out of seven duels, making two tackles, 1 clearances and four interceptions for his side at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea controlled the match and had the best possession (52.7%), while Arsenal could only manage 47.3% of the possession.

Meanwhile, The Reds had more shots on goal than the Blues, producing 13 chances at goal compared to 12 efforts respectively.
