Manchester City has confirmed that Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus has returned to training for the first time since February following his long-term injury.
The Brazilian made a superb start to life in the City first team when he joined the club from Brazilian Serie A side Palmeiras during the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old has already scored three goals in his first four games, including a match-winning double against Swansea at the Etihad Stadium earlier this year.
However, he sustained a fractured metatarsal after playing just 14 minutes during City’s clash against Bournemouth, with the early prognosis suggesting he could be out until the end of the season.
Jesus has recently begun training in the gym in a bid to keep his fitness levels high and has since returned to the training field after spending seven weeks on the sidelines following his respective injury.
And although he didn’t take part in full training, focusing instead on some light ball work, it’s a sight City fans will nonetheless have been pleased to see.
‘We wish Gabriel well in his continued recovery and hope to see him back in a blue shirt as soon as possible,’ reports the Manchester City website.
The Brazilian has netted three goals and assisted a further two from five appearances in all competitions so far this season.
Manchester City will now go head-to-head against Premier League leaders Chelsea when the two sides meet in the mouthwatering clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Kick-off has been set for 21:00.
