Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho sustained a dead leg during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Watford on Monday, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.
The 24-year-old was forced off in the 13th minute of the field at Vicarage Road Stadium after taking a heavy knock to his thigh early on.
The Brazilian attempted to run his injury off, but to no avail as he was unable to continue and subsequently had to be replaced by Adam Lallana.
The German manager has confirmed that Coutinho suffered from a dead leg and he will be hoping that the midfielder will be fit in time for their next match against Southampton.
‘He has a dead leg, hopefully it’s not too serious but of course it’s really painful and no chance [he could continue]. Everybody could see he tried hard, but no chance,’ Klopp told the Liverpool website.
Coutinho has been in outstanding form for the Reds this season, helping them to third place in the Premier League standing with three games left until the end of the season.
He has since gone on to net 11 goals and assisted a further eight from 30 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
Liverpool will be hoping to continue their winning ways when they take on Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
The match at Anfield kicks off at 14:30.
