Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that this is a crucial week for them in their push towards clinching a top four spot in the Premier League and the Champions League places.
The Reds play Wolves at Anfield on Wednesday. Their mini-revival in the Premier League after a tough first half of the season was stopped by a disappointing 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace last weekend.
On Sunday, Manchester United, which just won the League Cup, comes to play.
Liverpool’s wins against Everton and Newcastle in February showed that they were back on track, but the 5-2 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League might have made them less motivated at Selhurst Park.
When Liverpool lost 3-0 at Molineux this month, it seemed like a good way to sum up a team that was still riding high from last season, when they won the FA Cup and League Cup double.
But with 36 points and two games in hand over Tottenham, the team in fourth place, Klopp wants to get the most out of Liverpool’s last 15 league games.
“It’s 45 points. It would be a really good moment (to achieve two wins). Yes, you can imagine, that’s exactly what we want to do,” he said.
“It’s a super important week. We cannot ignore that. We have two home games. I would love to give the season a little push in this week.
“We have got seven points from these three games. The last one we drew and I know I said it’s the same game like we played before but without scoring and people said ‘But it’s the most important stuff’. I know. You cannot change the other facts as well.
“We have to force it as well but we have to play, enjoy what we are doing – that’s really important,” Klopp said.
