Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that there is a chance that striker Sadio Mane could still feature for the club this season.

The Senegalese forward sustained a knee injury during the Reds Merseyside derby clash against Everton on Saturday, and was ruled out for their 2-2 stalemate with Bournemouth on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old has been instrumental in atttack for the Reds this campaign, and has already scored 13 goals and assisted a further eight from 29 appearances in all competitions this season.

The German manager has revealed that the Reds are still waiting to discover the full extent of Mane’s injury, but insists that there is a chance the striker can still play this season.

‘Sadio is not involved [tonight]. I cannot say more than I said yesterday, but it doesn’t look good and that’s how it is,’ Klopp told the Liverpool website.

‘It doesn’t look at the moment like he could play one more game this season, but if somebody wants to surprise me with positive [news] then I am open for this. We will see.

‘There is no final judgement. We have to wait for more assessments and then we will know more.’

The Reds are currently placed third in the Premier League standings with 60 points, having won 17 out of 31 matches played so far this season, trailing Tottenham Hotspur in second by five points.

Liverpool will next take on Stoke City when the two sides go head-to-head in the Premier League on Saturday.

The match at the Britannia Stadium kicks off at 16:00.
