Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany appeared back to his best in the 0-0 draw against Manchester United and revealed that Jose Mourinho’s side hardly threatened their defence.
The Belgian defender maintained his starting-berth from the side that lost in the FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal alongside Nicolas Otamendi in the heart of the defence, and put in an impressive shift, ensuring that the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcos Rashford were kept at bay.
The 31-year-old suggested that the goalless stalemate was not a true reflection of the game, insisting that his side were the more dominant, but failed to take their chances.
‘We got a point – it’s not so bad, but we never felt like the game was difficult or they were a threat,’ he told Manchester City’s website.
‘It’s happened a lot this season – good games but just not the result.
‘We just need to finish things off.
‘We created chances, we had a lot of the ball, but its not falling on the right side for us. We just lacked a bit of edge to bury the game,’ he added.
The defender also alluded to his side’s chances of sealing an automatic Champions League berth.
‘We are still confident, we will make the top four.
‘There’s nothing in the performance that needs to worry us. We’re not far away from really clicking and being an extremely powerful side.
‘At this level though, its all about small percentages and we’re just a bit short tonight,’ he said.

The former Anderlecht man also heaped praise on United attacking-duo Martial and Rashford, saying that they have a bright future ahead of them.
‘Rashford and Martial have got so much ability and such a bright future ahead.
‘They are lightning quick and with a bit more experience can cause a lot more trouble.
‘But hopefully my experience was able to help a little bit out there,’ he concluded.
