Manuel Benson came off the bench to score the winning goal that earned Burnley a narrow 1-0 win over rivals Blackburn and clinched the Sky Bet Championship title for Vincent Kompany’s Clarets.
Even though Vincent Kompany’s team wasn’t at their best in the Lancashire derby, they were still able to win the title and hurt Rovers’ chances of making the playoffs.
Benson curled in Burnley’s only shot on goal, giving them their 12th goal of the season and a 13-point lead over second-placed Sheffield United, who still have four games to play.
Blackburn is still out of the playoff spots because of their goal difference. They haven’t won in eight games.
