A goal by Roberto Firmino helped Liverpool secure a narrow 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon.
The Baggies got off to a good start and had their first chance at got in the second minute when Matt Phillips’ tame shot fell kindly for Robson-Kanu, however the striker couldn’t direct his shot on target.
The Reds had their first real chance at goal in the 15th minute when Philippe Coutinho play Roberto Firmino through on-goal before firing a shot at goal, but his shot went agonisingly wide of the far post.
Counting had a chance to open the scoring in the 24th minute when he volleyed an effort at goal ,but his attempt went narrowly wide of the far post.
West Brom came close to scoring when Robson-Kanu was played through on-goal by Jake Livermore before he unleashed a shot at goal but his tame effort fell straight into the hands Simon Mignolet.
Liverpool eventually took the lead when Firmino latched onto a James Milner free-kick before heading his effort into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Jurgen Klopp’s side went into the half-time interval with a 1-0 lead over West Brom.
The Reds had a chance to double their lead in the 57th minute when Firmino picked out Milner, who volleyed his effort at goal but the midfielder’s effort went over the target.
Liverpool thought they extended their lead four minutes later when Firmino nodded the ball back to Divok Origi, who guided the ball into the back of the net but Firmino was adjudged to have been offside.
Joel Matip had a chance to double his sides lead in the 67th minute but his headed effort from a free-kick was guided wide of the target.
West Brom sat back and soaked up the pressure from Liverpool as they struggled to carve out any real clear-cut opportunities at goal.
The Baggies eventually had their first chance of the second-half but Livermore’s shit from distance went hopelessly wide of the target.
Mignolet came to his side’s rescue in the 80th minute when Rondon skipped past his marker before unleashing his strike at goal ,but it was well saved by the Reds shot-stopper.
Liverpool held onto their 1-0 lead against West Bromwich Albion until the final whistle of the match to secure all three points.
