Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is looking to land a shock deal for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the January transfer window.
The Telegraph reports that Oxlade-Chamberlain is the perfect player to stand in for Senegal’s Sadio Mane, who is set to miss five league games due to Afcon 2017.
The English newspaper suggests that Arsenal will demand a fee in the region of between £20-million to £25-million with the full England international’s contract expiring in a year.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is enjoying a fine but frustrating season under Arsene Wenger and is believed to be unhappy being drafted in and out of the starting XI despite six goals and as many assists this season. He is yet to complete the full 90 minutes.
Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Arsenal from Southampton in 2011 for an initial £12-million.
Arsenal are in danger of losing the English playmaker along with the club’s two biggest stars Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, as contract talks continue to stall.
