A brace by Romelu Lukaku helped Everton secure a 4-2 victory over Leicester City in a six-goal thriller at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Toffees got off to a brilliant start and took the lead in the first minute when Kevin Mirallas drove through the Leicester defence, before he was brought down at the edge of the area. The ball fell to Davies, who superbly put the ball past Schmeichel.
However, the Foxes responded well and levelled matters three points later, when Demarai Gray led a wonderful counter-attack before picking out Islam Slimani, who tucked the ball neatly under Robles to make it 1-1.
The Foxes then took the lead in the 10th minute when Marc Albrighton caught Robles off his line to fire his free-kick into the top corner of the net to make it 2-1.
Everton then levelled matters in the 23rd minute when Ross Barkley whipped an outstanding cross towards Romelu Lukaku, who was on hand to nod the ball in from six yards out.
Lukaku had a chance to score his second goal in the 37th minute when he found space down the right, easing his way past Chilwell before unleashing a powerful strike, but his effort soared over the target.
Everton should’ve added a third in the 40th minute when Barkley latched on to a loose ball to direct the ball home, but Schmeichel recovered to make an outstanding stop.
However, Everton restored their lead a minute later when Phil Jagielka latched on to a cross from Mirallas before the defender nudged in his second goal in as many games.
After the first 45 minutes, the match went into the half-time interval with a 3-2 scoreline for Everton.
Leicester had the first chance at goal in the second half when Slimani’s effort at goal took a deflection off the Everton man, before the ball hit the side-netting.
The Toffees then extended their lead even further in the 57th minute when Lukaku took advantage of poor Leicester defending to get on the end of Jagielka’s flick-on, before finding the back of the net.
The Foxes then had a chance to reduce the deficit to a goal in the 79th minute when Ulloa got on to the end of the corner before heading the ball towards goal, but his effort was blocked by Jagielka.
In the 84th minute, Barkley was presented with an opportunity to shoot from 20 yards out, but the attacking midfielder’s effort was comfortably saved by Schmeichel.
Everton held on to their 4-2 lead over Leicester City until the final whistle to collect all three points at Goodison Park.
