Manchester City will kick start their title defence when they face Vincent Kompany’s Burnley side in their opening Premier League clash at Turf Moor on August 11.

The 2023/24 schedule, which came out on Thursday, showed that the team that won the Treble will be at Turf Moor on August 11 to start the season.

As captain of City, Kompany won the title four times. This will be the second time he faces his old team as a manager. In March, City beat his old team 6-0 at the Etihad in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

In 2022/23, Pep Guardiola’s team won the Premier League, the Champions League, and the FA Cup. Now, they want to become the first English team to win four straight top-flight titles.

In the last few years, they have dominated the Premier League. In the last six years, they have won the title five times.

The next day, Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton will host Luton in their first top-flight game since 1992. This will be the first time Luton has played in the Premier League.

Sheffield United, the other team that was promoted, will play its first game at home against Crystal Palace.

The most interesting game of the first weekend will be at Stamford Bridge, where Mauricio Pochettino’s first game as manager of Chelsea will be against Liverpool. Both teams are looking to get back on track after having bad seasons.

Arsenal, which finished second in the Premier League, starts the season at home against Nottingham Forest. Newcastle, which also made the Champions League, opens against Aston Villa, and Manchester United starts at Old Trafford against Wolves.

Tottenham’s first game with Ange Postecoglou in charge will be at Brentford.

West Ham, which won the Europa League, plays at Bournemouth, and Everton, which wants to avoid a third straight relegation fight, plays Fulham at home.

Last season, City finished five points ahead of Arsenal. In early October, City will go to the Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal.

At the end of November, the champions will play Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Old Trafford. This will be the first Manchester derby since City matched United’s Treble win in 1999.

The 2022–23 season was interrupted by the World Cup in Qatar, but the schedule is back to normal now. There will be a break in the middle of the season in January, and the 10 games will be spread out over two weekends.

The campaign finishes on May 19, 2024.
