Manchester United have announced a sponsorship deal with Qualcomm Technologies Inc. that will display the company’s Snapdragon brand on the club’s shirts.
The Premier League club did not say how much the deal was worth, but it was said that they were aiming for a deal worth £60 million ($75 million) per year.
It is thought that the number matches or even beats the previous record for the most shirts sold in football history.
Since last year, United has worked with Qualcomm as one of its global partners.
“Manchester United plc has agreed to an expanded strategic collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc, that will see the Snapdragon brand displayed on the front of the club’s famous shirt,” the club said in a statement confirming the agreement.
It added: “Under the expanded agreement, Snapdragon will become Manchester United’s front of shirt partner from the start of the 2024/25 season, featuring on the home, away and third kits of the men’s and women’s teams.”
Since former manager Alex Ferguson left the team in 2013, United has not won the Premier League.
This season, Erik ten Hag’s team has only won two of their first four league games, and fans are upset with the unpopular Glazers, who own the team.
United’s share price tumbled last week after reports that the Glazers had halted plans to sell the club.
Smart phones, PCs, virtual reality systems, and gaming systems all use Snapdragon processors.
