Liverpool defender Joel Matip has stated that the Reds will work harder and ‘do everything’ to rediscover the form they showed earlier in the season.
The Reds suffered their fourth defeat of the Premier League campaign against Hull City at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday, through goals by Alfred N’Diaye and Oumar Niasse.
The 25-year-old says he was left disappointed after their defeat but has urged his side to continue to work harder at rediscovering their form.
‘Of course, it’s disappointing. We tried to win but it was not enough,’ Matip told the Liverpool website.
‘We have to work harder. The first half was not good. The second half was a little bit better, but not good enough. We have to start earlier. We’ve all said it, not only the manager.’
The objective during the interim will be to ensure Liverpool can begin to once again reproduce the energy and fluency seen so often in the first half of the season.
Matip says his side are already preparing for the next clash against Spurs, in the hopes of walking away with all three points.
‘We [will] try to get back to that level. We will do everything to get back to that level and play the football we played,’ He added.
‘It was not a good day for us, of course, but next week is the next chance. We’ll try to do better and get some points.’
Liverpool will be hoping to rediscover their form went they take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday.
The match at Anfield kicks off at 19:30.
