Bukayo Saka scored twice to help Arsenal earn a commanding 5-0 victory over Burnley as the Gunners closed the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to two points.
After last week’s 6-0 victory against West Ham, Arsenal found themselves back in the scoring column. Four minutes in, captain Martin Odegaard opened the score with a sharp effort into the bottom corner following a feed from Gabriel Martinelli.
Following a foul on Leandro Trossard in the box by Lorenz Assignon, Bukayo Saka scored from the spot to double the lead.
As Arsenal picked up the tempo, Saka, an England forward, scored his second goal shortly after the break. He did so by cutting inside and firing a shot that went into the roof of the net after latching onto a deft cross from Odegaard.
In the box, Havertz’s poorly struck shot was blocked, but Trossard was quick to react and curl in his third goal in as many league games.
The Gunners’ victory was secured when Jakub Kiwior’s long pass down the line found an open Havertz, who slipped past the defence and fired past home keeper James Trafford.
With five straight victories and 21 goals scored, Arsenal has pulled two points clear of leaders Liverpool, while Burnley is still in the relegation zone.
