Mohamed Salah scored on his return from injury as Liverpool defeated Brentford 4-1 to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League.
At the Gtech Community Stadium, Darwin Nunez gave Liverpool the lead with a stunning chip before Alexis Mac Allister added a second.
After recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered while representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, Salah scored with a neat finish.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney responded with a goal, but Cody Gakpo’s late goal gave Liverpool the win.
Liverpool’s five-point lead at the top was briefly maintained after the win, but later in the day, Arsenal’s 5-0 success over Burnley cut the difference to two points once more.
More injuries added to an already growing list was the main disappointment for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp following the victory at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Nunez was added as a replacement during the half, replacing Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota.
