Arsenal playmaker Alexis Sanchez has been singled out as one of the world’s best players after shrugging off injury concerns to lead Chile to a win over Uruguay on Tuesday.
Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi lauded the kingpin player after his side came from a goal behind to beat Uruguay in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier.
Sanchez scored a brace, to move within one of Marcelo Salas’ all-time record of 36 goals for Chile.
‘Individuals speak for themselves,’ Pizzi told media after the win.
‘Alexis is among the best players in the world.
‘[But] I am more in favour of emphasising the strengths of the group. And it is what allowed us to turn the game.’
Sanchez’s fitness and his brace will delight Arsenal fans, with their side travelling to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in Premier League action.
The Red Devils will be hoping to close the six-point gap on their visitors, who are two points off top spot after 11 games but have a poor record at the Theatre of Dreams.
The Chilean has added six goals and two assists to the Arsenal cause and will be expected to maintain his international form on Saturday.
The match kicks off at 14:30.
