Alexis Sanchez played a vital role in helping Arsenal secure a point against Paris Saint-Germain to earn his side a 1-1 draw in their Champions League opener.

The Gunners were behind inside a minute as striker Edinson Cavani headed home a Serge Aurier’s cross which left stand-in goalkeeper David Ospina no chance.

However, the Chilean forward levelled matters 13 minutes from time after some good work by English forward Alex Iwobi.

The 27-year-old played an important role for the Gunners by getting a total of two shots on goal, with one on target which he scored and both of his attempts coming from inside the PSG penalty area.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Alexis Sanchez managed to complete 63 touches on the ball after spending 90 minutes on the field.

The former Barcelona forward completed 32 out of 44 passes on the ball with 43.2% coming from the right, while 22.7% going forward and 18.2% coming from the right.

In defence, the forward won eight out of 16 duels and went on to win three fouls for his side while also created two chances in attack during the Gunners 1-1 at Parc des Princes.

PSG controlled the match and had the best possession (52.4%), while Arsenal could only manage 47.6% of the possession.

Meanwhile, Les Rouge-et-Bleu had more shots on goal than the Gunners, producing 11 chances at goal compared to 10 efforts respectively.
