German winger Leroy Sane has heaped praise on manager Pep Guardiola’s influence on his form for Manchester City this season.

Sane has lit up the Premier League this season. After a slow start to life at the Etihad, he found his form in mid-December and has not looked back since, forming a pacy wing duo with Raheem Sterling.

The German international has become a regular starter for Guardiola’s side, following his move from Bundesliga side Schalke in a deal worth £37-million last summer.

The 21-year-old admits that Guardiola has been the biggest influence on his impressive form this season, and has praised his ability to help him become more versatile.

‘He [Guardiola] has made me a more complete player,’ Sane told the Manchester Evening News.

‘Sometimes I have to play in the middle, against some teams, although mostly I play wide.

‘He has made me look more at the details, to keep the ball better, to be more aggressive in my action when I get the ball.’

Sane struck his ninth goal of the season in his 30 appearances for City at Southampton on Saturday, after he was shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award by his fellow professionals.

Manchester City will now turn their attention to the FA Cup when they take on Arsenal in a mouthwatering clash in the semi-finals of the competition on Sunday.

The match at Wembley Stadium kicks off at 16:00.
