German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has completed his move from Manchester United to Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire.

The World Cup winner has now joined the MLS side on a permanent basis after passing a medical and receiving his visa.

Schweinsteiger has finalised the required paperwork and could be in line to make his debut against Montreal Impact at the weekend.

The 32-year-old says he feels honoured to have completed his move to the Men in Red, but he insists that he is comfortable playing in any position given to him, having already experienced playing as a winger and fullback.

‘I’m very comfortable in any position on the field. I remember one time in Munich I was also playing as a winger, sometimes as a fullback. I can play different positions,’ Schweinsteiger told the Chicago Fire website.

Schweinsteiger says he feel a bit of pressure after being labeled as their marquee player, but he has humbled himself by stating that every player in the squad is a key player.

‘I’ve had a lot of pressure in my career. When you play a World Cup final, or a Champions League final for the third time, and you have to win against Borussia Dortmund there is a little bit of pressure,’ he added.

‘I can handle that, but I don’t want to say that I’m the key player in Chicago. Every player on the pitch has to be a key player, has to take responsibility on the pitch, and I would like to contribute myself to the team as much as I can.’

The German midfielder made 35 appearances for the Reds and scored twice, against Leicester City in the Premier League last season and Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup earlier this season.
