Leicester City caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare says his only focus is on collecting maximum points against Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Monday.
The Foxes recently parted ways with Italian manager Claudio Ranieri, a year after helping them win the club’s first Premier League title. Ranieri also helped them to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Shakespeare says his side are ready, looking to turn around a recent run of poor Premier League form and return to winning ways ahead of their clash against Liverpool.
‘My remit is to get the players fit and ready for the Liverpool game,’ Shakespeare told the Leicester City website.
‘We need to make sure that we get back to winning ways. How we do that, again, I will address the players in the morning.
‘Our focus must be on getting three points on Monday night.’
The club’s caretaker manager says one of his main objectives for the rest of the season is to restore the team confidence, starting with a positive result against the Reds.
‘Confidence can go very quickly, but it can come back very quickly. My aim is to try to restore that very quickly,’ he added.
‘I’ve had experience as a player and experience as a coach and again, players experience lots of lows and highs and we have to make sure that they’re focused and ready for Monday’s game.’
The defending champions are currently placed 18th in the Premier League standings with 21 points, having picked up only five wins from 25 matches played so far this season.
Leicester City will now welcome Liverpool to the King Power Stadium when the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership on Monday.
Kick-off has been set for 22:00.
