Luke Shaw has revealed that Manchester United have adopted a “no days off” philosophy following their triumph over Newcastle United in the League Cup on Sunday evening.

The team led by Erik ten Hag beat Newcastle 2-0 in the League Cup final on Sunday. This was a big win for the club after a long time of not doing well.

Shaw was a big part of United’s win at Wembley. He took the free kick that Casemiro headed in to put United ahead.

But the United defender and his teammates haven’t had much time to recover from their hard-fought win and the celebrations that followed.

Ten Hag’s team was back in training 19 hours after winning the League Cup. On Wednesday, they would play West Ham at Old Trafford in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

They flew from Luton back to Manchester and landed at 23:30 GMT on Sunday. The next day, they trained at their Carrington base early in the afternoon.

After United went 40 years without winning a trophy, Shaw said the team is happy to have such a busy schedule because they are enjoying their long-awaited success.

“Of course the game is really big on Wednesday. It’s a competition that we want to look to win. I think that’s why we’re in today. There’s no days off,” Shaw said.

“There weren’t really many celebrations last night, so I think full focus after that was just to make sure that we come in today and prepare for that game.

“Like I said, it’s a competition we want to stay involved in.”
