Tottenham Hotspur closed the gap on the top four by coming from behind to beat Burnley 2-1 at White Hart Lane.

Dele Alli hit the woodwork early on but Burnley took the lead on 21 minutes when Ashley Barnes scored from close range after Spurs had failed to clear

The visiting team’s lead didn’t last long, Dele Alli converting Kyle Walker’s cross five minutes later.

Harry Kane almost put Spurs ahead before the break but Tom Heaton’s leg saved his shot.

Spurs’ winner came when Danny Rose’s was put through by Moussa Sissoko and finished from a narrow angle.

It moved them to within a point of Arsenal, while Burnley are 16 th, three points above the bottom three.

In Sunday’s earlier game, Jay Rodriguez struck two second-half goals to give Southampton a come-from-behind derby victory over Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium, to lift them to seventh.

Bournemouth took an early lead when Nathan Ake headed home Jack Wilshere’s cross after six minutes.

Southampton replied soon afterwards, Ryan Bertrand firing across goal for a fine finish just inside the far post after 14 minutes.

Three minutes after half0time Rodriguez slid in to score from close range after a run and cross from substitute Steven Davis.

Rodriguez sealed the three points on 85 minutes with a superb strike from just outside the penalty area.
