Swansea City moved four points clear of the Premier League relegation zone in 15th place after beating Leicester City 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

After a closely contested opening half an hour, central defender Alfie Mawson’s sweetly struck volley from Federico Fernandez’s cushioned header put Swansea in front on 36 minutes, reports premierleague.com.

January signing Martin Olsson, a left-back, fired the ball through the legs of Kasper Schmeichel after a wonderful pass from Gylfi Sigurdsson in first-half stoppage time.

Islam Slimani, one of two substitutes for Leicester at the break, was denied by Lukasz Fabianski as Swansea held on, leaving the Foxes one point and a place above the bottom three.
