Manchester United and defending champions Leicester City square off in the Premier League on Saturday as each looks to reignite their title challenge.

United bounced back from a stunning run of three consecutive defeats in all competition in midweek with an unconvincing win over lower league opposition Northampton Town. With manager Jose Mourinho struggling to get the best out of expensively assembled side, the pressure will be on the United as they welcome a revitalised Foxes outfit.

Leicester, for their part, have grown into the new season after a difficult start. The side had recorded back-to-back 3-0 victories in all competitions prior to an extra-time loss to Chelsea in League Cup in midweek but will be eager to avenge their Community Shield shield loss to Mourinho’s men on the opening day of the season.

United will be closely monitoring the fitness of Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial, both of whom were withdrawn in the side’s reverse away to Watford last week. Forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan is also a doubt while defender Phil Jones has not recovered.

The Foxes are likely to be missing goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel following a muscle strain while Marcin Wasilewsk is suspended and Nampalys Mendy is unlikely to be risked.

Mourinho has encouraged his side not to focus on their troubled week and return to business as usual.

‘We had a bad week. I know that the world is full of Einsteins, I know that they tried to delete 16 years of my career, they tried to delete an unbelievable history of Manchester United Football Club and to focus on a bad week with three bad results,’ told the media.

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri, on the other hand, has promised that his side will play with freedom.

‘We are fearless. Why are we scared to go there? More than lose, what can we do there?

‘When you go in this big stadium you want to show your best,’ he concluded.

The match will get underway at Old Trafford at 13:30.
