A goal by Juan Mata helped Manchester United progress to the next round of the Europa League following their 1-0 victory over Rostov on Thursday.

Jose Mourinho’s side secured a 2-1 aggregate victory over the Russian Premier League side following their two-legged fixture.

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic hit the post twice in the first half as United struggled to get past the Russians at Old Trafford.

However, United went ahead on the night and into the tie through a 70th-minute goal by Mata, when Ibrahimovic flicked the ball into the path of the Spaniard at the far post for a simple tap-in.
