Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he was pleased to walk away with a crucial away goal against Rostov in their Europa League stalemate on Thursday.
United got an important away goal against the Russian side when Henrikh Mkhitaryan opened their scoring on his return from injury, but Aleksandr Bukharov found the back of the net as the match ended in a draw.
The Portuguese manager says he is satisfied with his side’s performance after they walked away with a crucial away goal against the Russian side.
‘An away goal is always positive; it’s better 1-1 than 0-0, obviously. But the game is open, the result is open and this Rostov team has experience of playing big matches, big opponents, big stadiums,’ Mourinho told the Manchester United website.
Mourinho insists his side will push on in the hopes of defeating Chelsea in their FA Cup clash to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.
‘I don’t think it’s a problem for them to go to Old Trafford and play us. They play Sunday against Terek Grozny, we play Monday against Chelsea – they know they have more time,’ he added.
‘It’s more difficult, but we are one step from the quarter-finals. Old Trafford will push us and hopefully we’ll get to the quarter-finals.’
Manchester United will now turn their attention to the FA Cup when they take on an in-form Chelsea side in what is expected to be an entertaining match on Monday.
The match at Stamford Bridge kicks off at 21:45.
