Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he has a bad feeling about the injuries Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo sustained during their Europa League quarter-final win over Anderlecht.

United secured their progression in the competition after they beat the Belgian First Division A side 3-2 on aggregate over their two-legged fixture.

The Red Devils joined Ajax, Celta Vigo and Lyon in the last four of the competition when Marcus Rashford’s netted an extra-time winner at Old Trafford after Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sofiane Hanni both scored in the first half.

The win came at a price for United, after Rojo was stretchered off the field before half-time and Ibrahimovic in the first half of extra-time, and Mourinho says he will try to remain positive that the pair didn’t suffer serious injuries.

Ahead of their clash against Burnley, Mourinho says he is yet to find out the extent of their respective injuries.

‘I want to wait, but my feeling is not good for both. I want to try to be optimistic, but I’m not. I don’t think they are easy injuries, but I prefer to wait until all the tests are done tomorrow,’ Mourinho told the Manchester United website.

‘After tomorrow then I can speak what I feel because I am a manager, not a doctor.’

Meanwhile, Mourinho has been boosted by the return of Wayne Rooney, who was named on the bench during United’s triumph over Anderlecht since last playing against West Bromwich Albion on 1 April, and then coming on as a substitute.

Manchester United will now turn their attention back to the Premier League and will be hoping to continue their winning ways when they take on Burnley this Sunday.
