Erling Haaland scored his sixth hat-trick of the season to inspire Manchester City to a 6-0 rout over Burnley to book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Four Premier League titles were won by Kompany during his 11-year playing career at City. He was honoured with a hero’s welcome at the Etihad.

On the field, however, City showed no mercy to their former captain, as Haaland scored his 42nd goal of the season.

City remained on track for the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup treble after Julian Alvarez scored twice and Cole Palmer scored the other goal.

Haaland scored five goals as RB Leipzig was defeated 7-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

This season, the Norwegian has scored a hat-trick in six of his 19 appearances at the Etihad.

“It’s been a good couple of games –- important games. (To win) 7-0 and 6-0 before the national team break is impressive. I’m really happy,” said Haaland.

“I think we’re in the part of the season where we should be at our best.”

In Kompany’s first season as manager, Burnley is storming toward a return to the Premier League.

The Championship leaders were shown the chasm they must bridge next season by City’s clinical performance.

“It is always a place I am proud to come back but I was also proud to come here with Burnley,” said Kompany.

The visitors started the game the stronger of the two teams, but fell behind after Haaland scored on a pass from Alvarez after 32 minutes.

Moments later, Haaland scored on a cross from Phil Foden, who was released down the left flank.

On the rebound after Foden’s shot rebounded off the post, City’s number nine completed his hat-trick.

His remarkable performance has overshadowed Alvarez’s impressive City debut.

This week, the Argentine World Cup champion extended his contract with Manchester City and celebrated with a brace assisted by Kevin De Bruyne.

Palmer scored City’s fifth goal with a simple tap-in after Foden’s cross was parried by Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

City is the first team to advance to the semifinals, with the remaining three quarterfinals taking place on Sunday.

Manchester United will host Fulham, while fourth-tier Grimsby will travel to in-form Brighton in search of another massive upset.

The winner of the match between Sheffield United and Blackburn will earn a trip to Wembley.
