Chelsea defender David Luiz says his side are looking forward to their next challenge, following their 4-2 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.
The Blues booked their place in the finals of the competition after a brace by Willian, and strikes by Eden Hazard and Nemanja Matic cancelling out Harry Kane and Dele Alli’s equalisers at Wembley Stadium.
Antonio Conte’s side are now set to face London rivals Arsenal in the finals, after they beat Manchester City 2-1 in their semi-final clash at Wembley Stadium.
The 30-year-old defender says he was pleased with the win, but he insists that the Blues have to apply more pressure on Spurs by increasing their lead at the top of the table.
‘It was a big game, we knew it would be tough against fantastic players, but we are very happy because we won,’ Luiz told the Chelsea website.
‘Now we think about the next challenge, against Southampton.
‘The Premier League is a different competition, we know Spurs are a fantastic team and they won’t be too down just because they lost one game, so it will be difficult until the end.’
The Brazilian has also reserved special praise for manager Antonio Conte, who he has relished playing for this season.
‘He’s a fantastic person before a fantastic manager, so we talk a lot, every day, because we have a great relationship,’ he added.
‘We try to give our best for our club and he tries to help me with his intelligence for football to improve my football, so I am very happy to work with him. He did an amazing job in this game.’
Chelsea will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Premier league table when they welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Kick-off has been set for 20:45.
