Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata says he is confident his side can overcome Chelsea to put them one step closer to lifting the FA Cup trophy.
The Red Devils are set to travel to Stamford Bridge for their FA Cup quarter-finals clash for a spot in the last four of the competition.
The 28-year-old believes his side’s triumph in the EFL Cup will give them extra power heading into their clash against Antonio Conte’s side.
‘We are the defending champions and that, together with the recent visit to Wembley and the EFL Cup trophy, gives us an extra power in this great competition,’ Mata told his official blog.
‘And obviously, playing such a game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where I have felt very welcome ever since the first day, means that this is one of the games in the year that are “different”. It would be great news to go back to Wembley this season. ‘
The Spanish midfielder says he is staying positive that Jose Mourinho’s side can beat the Blues to book their place in the next round of the competition.
‘The team knows it, and we are focused on that. I hope we have a great football night at the Bridge and we can make it through the semis, make all the fans that travel with us to London happy, and get closer to another trophy,’ he added.
‘We know it’s going to be complicated, but we will give everything on the pitch.’
