Chelsea's Pedro.

Pedro scored an extra-time winner in a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium to send Chelsea through to the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Blues came into the game under pressure after exiting the Champions League while Claude Puel’s side were looking to extend their cup run.

The game started in an even manner with both teams looking positive but failing to create clear-cut openings. It was proving to be a tight game and, just as it looked as though it would be scoreless at half-time, Chelsea took the lead. A great counter-attack was started by Willian, who skipped past two defenders and played a perfectly-weighted ball to send Alvaro Morata through on goal. The Spaniard made no mistake with the finish, curling it past the goalkeeper to give his side the lead, 1-0 at half-time.

After a number of chances for both sides, the Foxes finally got their equaliser. A wonderful Riyad Mahrez square cross led to a messy goalmouth scramble in the Chelsea box. Willy Caballero managed to save three close-range attempts but the ball finally fell to Jamie Vardy, who drilled his effort into the bottom-right corner, 1-1 after 76 minutes.

Neither side could manage to find the all-important goal in regular time and for the first time this weekend, extra-time would be needed to separate the sides.

The first half of extra time saw the game’s tempo drop as the tolls of the game were beginning to take effect. Then just before half-time in extra time, disaster struck for the Foxes. Kasper Schmeichel misjudged a N’Golo Kante cross, while coming for the ball, missing it and leaving Pedro with an easy header to give his side the lead.

Antonio Conte’s team were in control and they managed to see out the game, and are through to the FA Cup semi-finals.
