Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Danny Welbeck and Shkodran Mustafi are doubtful for their FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Gunners made their way into the last four of the competition after they demolished Lincoln City 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium, through goals by Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, Arron Ramsey and an own goal by Luke Waterfall.
The North London side are now one step closer to reaching the finals of the competition, with only Pep Guardiola’s side standing in their way.
The 67-year-old manager has revealed that Mustafi and David Ospina are both out for their semi-final due to their respective injuries, while he is still waiting to find out the full extent of Welbeck’s injury.
‘The latest team news from last weekend is that everybody should be available. We have an uncertainty about Danny Welbeck, and Shkodran Mustafi is out. That’s it,’ Wenger told the Arsenal website.
‘He is a doubt for the semi-final, he will have tests today and tomorrow to see if he will be available.
‘Ospina is out and Lucas is still out. They are longer-term injuries. Ospina could be back in 10 days.’
Meanwhile, Wenger also confirmed that young midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide will be out for the rest of the season (six weeks), due to an ankle injury, which he sustained during the Gunners’ 2-0 triumph over Sutton United on 20 February.
‘He has got an ankle injury and is out for the rest of the season. It is not future-threatening problem, but it will take him six weeks, so this season is basically finished for him,’ he added.
Arsenal will now go head-to-head with Manchester City when the two sides lock horns in their FA Cup semi-final clash on Sunday.
The match at Wembley Stadium kicks off at 16:00.
