Real Madrid have confirmed that veteran midfielder Luka Modric will remain at the club for another season after signing a new deal until 2024.

The 37-year-old is still a key player for Real Madrid. He decided to stay even though Saudi Arabia wanted to hire him when his current contract ended this month.

This summer, the Croatian extended his stay at Real Madrid, just like Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos, and Nacho Fernandez.

“In his 11 seasons defending our shirt, he has played 488 games and won 23 trophies,” said Real Madrid in a statement.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2012 from Tottenham, Modric has won the Champions League five times, as well as La Liga three times and the Copa del Rey twice.

In September 2018, he will turn 38. The winner of the Ballon d’Or, Modric, will have a tough time at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.

Madrid bought England’s Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for more than 100 million euros ($109 million) in early June. Kroos, Ceballos, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Fede Valverde are all vying for spots, as are Aurelien Tchouameni and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Bellingham, a young player, said at his presentation that he was most excited to learn from Modric and Kroos.

Modric and Croatia came in second place in the Nations League. He hasn’t said yet if he’s retiring from international football, as was rumoured, or if he’ll keep playing until the European Championship in 2024 next summer.
