Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has put pen to paper on a new contract with the Spanish giants which keeps him at the club until 2028.
The Brazilian winger decided to extend his contract until 2027 in the same week that fellow countryman Vinicius Junior also committed to the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Real Madrid and Rodrygo have agreed the extension of the player’s contract, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2028,” said Madrid in a statement.
Although the 22-year-old Rodrygo has not been at his best this season, he is still an important member of Madrid’s squad. In May, he scored two goals against Osasuna to help Los Blancos win their first Copa del Rey since 2014.
The attacker, who arrived in the Spanish capital in the summer of 2019 one year after Vinicius, agreed to join Madrid in 2018 for 45 million euros ($48 million) from Santos in Brazil.
In 179 appearances for Marid across all competitions, Rodrygo has scored 39 goals and won two La Liga titles in addition to the 2022 Champions League.
