Lionel Messi scored twice as Barcelona kept the pressure on Real Madrid in the La Liga title race after they thumped Osasuna 7-1 at Camp Nou on Wednesday.
Messi opened the scoring for the hosts in the 12th minute when he intercepted a loose pass and raced towards goal, before flicking the ball over the advancing goalkeeper and into the net to make it 1-0.
Barcelona got their second goal half an hour later when Andre Gomes showed composure to find the back of the net after latching on to a cross from Ivan Rakitic.
Osasuna reduced the deficit in the 48th minute as Roberto Torres curled his free-kick over the defensive wall and into the far corner of the net, with Barca keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen rooted to the spot.
The home side then added a third, and Gomes his second in the 57th minute when he converted the rebound after Gerard Pique’s shot struck a post, before Messi netted his second with a 20-yard curler.
Paco Alcacer opened his account when he chipped the ball over the onrushing Sirigu after latching on to a pass from Arda Turan.
Barca were awarded a penalty in the 68th minute after Denis Suarez was brought down by Fran Merida. Javier Mascherano stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake from the spot-kick to net, his first goal in seven years.
Alcacer then rounded off the scoring four minutes from time when he was played through on goal by Suarez, before rounding Sirigu to slot the ball into an empty net.
