Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Portuguese forward Goncalo Guedes from Primeira Liga side Benfica.
The 20-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side for £25.5-million on a four-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2021.
Guedes will now don the number 15 jersey at PSG after completing his medical at the club on Wednesday.
The Portuguese international says he is delighted to have joined a club of PSG’s caliber and he insists that his aim is to win silverware with the club.
‘I’m very happy to join such a big club as Paris Saint-Germain,’ Guedes told the PSG website.
‘Paris always play to win trophies, so my aim is to win as many trophies as possible, and that Paris keep on winning. I know my compatriot Pauleta was well loved by Paris Saint-Germain fans. I hope to do as well as he did, and one day be just as much loved as him.’
Over the course of his career, Guedes has netted 26 goals and has assisted a further 33 from 116 appearances in all competitions while playing for Benfica.
On an international level, he has only made two appearances for the Portugal national team since making his debut in November 2016 under coach Fernando Santos.
