New Racing Strasbourg coach Patrick Vieira praised Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba after he scored the winning goal in their Ligue 1 victory over Olympique Lyon at Stade de la Meinau on Sunday.
Mothiba played a crucial role in helping Strasbourg secure all three points in their Ligue 1 opener after guiding them to a 2-1 victory.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde opened the scoring for Strasbourg in the 63rd minute before bagged his first goal of the season in the 75th minute while Nicolás Tagliafico 88th minute goal proved to be a consolation.
Vieira is now hoping the South African striker can maintain his current form as they look for success across all competitions.
“Lebo Mothiba was extraordinary! He works a lot for the team, he spends a lot of time defending,” Vieira said after the game
“I’m very happy for him. If he maintains this level, he will be able to bring nice things to the team.”
